How it works

You can quickly convert an image to text (Optical Character Recognition) using a simple keyboard shortcut. First, launch the TextSniper app. Then, press Shift+Command+2 (⇧⌘2) or click the TextSniper icon in the menu bar and select the "Capture Text" option. Next, draw a rectangle around the area of the screen that you want to OCR. The text within the selection will be instantly recognised and copied to your clipboard. To paste it into any application—such as Notes, Pages, Safari, or social media—simply press Command+V (⌘V).

Vertical text recognition

• TextSniper recognizes vertically oriented Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text. This feature is currently available running TextSniper's latest version on macOS Sonoma and macOS Sequoia.

TextSniper is available as a one-time purchase direct from the web and is priced at $7.99 for a one-Mac license. A license for use on up to three Macs is priced at $9.99.

TextSniper is also available via the Mac App Store for $11.99 and supports Family Sharing, giving up to six people access to the app.
